Owl city fireflies download itunes4/8/2023 ![]() Sonically it's flawed but listenable, which is what I should be rating this on. The lyrics don't help either.Īs I said, this conflicts me. The vocals lend towards the now synonymous Owl City style of over-enunciating everything and there's just something really uncomfortable about that. But then hey, if something sounds exactly like The Postal Service, what's wrong with hearing that everywhere? Well, the song is rather flawed and doesn't even compare to TPS. This 'influence' is much more than a faint resemblance. I'm not alone in this though, because Adam Young certainly has heard of them too, and even cites them as an influence. I adored "Such Great Heights" long before this came to surface, and have since enjoyed their album too. However, the 'something different' is one of the problems for me. I at least appreciate the booming transition into the 2nd chorus. On one hand, at a time when we were flooded with same sounding hits that overstayed their welcome, this was at least something different. I can understand both reactions but I'm left conflicted. ***People seem to either have an allergic reaction to this song, or just love it to bits.
